This novella is a complete story, a compact little piece of humorous, romantic, lump in the throat heaven. The humour comes from the wonderful exchanges between the slightly disenchanted Felix and his ghostly companion, Bryn. Bryn’s voice is written so you cannot help but hear the welsh accent in your head, when reading and he is definitely, no angel. This story has the mystery of Bryn’s ghostly attachment to Felix; the realisation of a true romance between Felix and Mickey; the sorting out of some brotherly difficulties, and the investigation and solution of a real life mystery. Clare writes with the assurance that comes with having been published in several genres over a period of time. There is a subtlety to the written emotion so the switch from humour to pathos catches you unawares...
