A Gay Romance had moments of brilliance!! Layered under puns, satire, spoof and raunchy humor was insightful commentary on all the tropes found in gay romance today. There were so many moments I found my self going “I see what you did there!” and laughing out loud.

However, this was not the book I expected. I hadn’t read any reviews and so was looking forward to a humorous novel, not a parody. And subtle this book wasn’t. It was a club over the head. Everything was in your face, cheesy, and overwhelming at times. I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to get through the first chapter. It was over the top awful, and I mean that in the nicest way possible. I powered through and found the story smoothed out after that first bit and was more balanced. There were twists and turns, some I figured out, others were a surprise; hot love scenes just this side of being too ridiculous; a whole cast of outrageous stereotyped characters that managed not to be flat; and an actual story...
